Cheese, Please? How eating pizza impacts liver health

Would you believe it if I said your go-to weekend meal could be seriously damaging your liver? I'm not even lying. Who would disagree that pizza is a most go-to comfort food and a cheat meal, whether we have bad cravings, are moody, irritated, or feel like munching something. It's more like a cigarette box with the words, "smoking causes cancer," but the smoker doesn't care about it.

The dark side of pizza

Have you ever thought that those extra cheese or high-fat toppings we prefer would severely damage your liver? Particularly those with high saturated trans-fat, sodium, and refined carbohydrates, builds up excessive fat in the liver, causing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

A tasty treat or a risky choice?

Pizza tops the list of most addictive foods as per many surveys. Any addiction causes ill health to us, be it alcohol consumption, smoking, video games, or pizza, and that will become fatal to health. No, I'm not here to scare you at all. Instead, it's only a reminder that eating pizza regularly can result in weight gain, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol levels. This could excessively damage your liver health, and no one would ever want that.

Habits to guard your liver

Show some love to your liver just like how you care for your other vital parts. After all, this hardworking organ is the most looked down upon. We only remember its existence if something fatal comes to our notice that it's disrupting our daily routine.

Beware, look out for earlier symptoms, get educated, and know when to get yourself checked if something mild comes up so that you can avoid serious issues. But you needn't be constantly vigilant and anxious about it, affecting your mental health. That's not what we want. Instead, switch to healthier alternatives, something easy to start with, and build a healthy routine over time.

Why wait to ditch your pizza and hitch your happiness to something that actually nourishes your health and soul?
